Black Independent Talents You Should Support

Hello my beautiful and handsome readers! I'm backkk! I'm so sorry for the hiatus but I'm back and I will not leave you guys hanging again. Life honestly just got in the way. I recently started a youtube channel also called Gyimaah's Thoughts so I've been quite busy trying to get it up and running with good momentum. I plan on keeping up with my Youtube channel and blog so I guess that was my test and I failed lol. However, I have created a better plan and system which will not let any of my platforms suffer. Growing a brand and platform is quite demanding but I'm here for a good time and a long time so please keep riding with me!

Today's post is dedicated to a few Black independent talents that I personally enjoy and think you all would too! Please check out these individuals, support them, share their work and help us all grow as young people.

In no particular order, here it goes!

Destiny Stone

Destiny Stone is an indie singer and songwriter from Mississippi whose music encompasses everything that is relevant in our time. This ranges from faith to love, but most importantly racial and social dissonance. Through her music, you feel her passion for human rights, justice, equality and Black progress. Her melodious voice literally takes you on a journey to "music land". Yes, she is THAT talented. She recently released her newest album titled

"The Girl With the Purple Glasses". It is a seven song project of faith, love and Black empowerment.

I have attended a few of her concerts and I always leave with a renewed appreciation for her voice and talent. She is someone I can personally vouch for because she is very hardworking and her music reflects just that.

Stone is curently an Elementary school music teacher in North Carolina and also owns

The Music House, a non-profit that offers private lessons, hosts local events and supports young indie artists.

With all that said, please check out Ms Destiny Stone. Her songs can be found on all streaming platforms-- spotify, itunes, youtube. Trust me, you'll find at least one song of hers that you'd resonate with.

Jordan Darrisaw

Jordan Darrisaw, known as "JD" by his close friends is a 2020 college graduate who is based in Charlotte, NC. JD is ready to start off his career as a teacher in Texas in the next few weeks. He is a staunch Christian who is very passionate about giving young people Jesus. It is this passion of his that led to the birth of his podcast, "Balancing the Journey and the Jewels with Jesus". This podcast aims to give encouragement, words of wisdom and upliftment to listeners.

I am a huge lover of podcasts so kindly trust this recommendation because I know what I'm talking about lol. Through this podcast, you will be able to experience JD's love for the Lord, the trials he has experienced as a young man of faith and the testimonies that have emerged. As the title of the podcast suggests, JD shares how to balance the journey -which isn't easy, the jewels that are dropped in our arms in the process and ofcourse with Jesus right there in our corner. He also has a segment titled "Freedom Fridays" where he discusses fun and more laid-back topics including personal food recipes. JD's fun and outgoing personality makes him the perfect candidate for a podcast host. He captures the attention of his audience, educates, entertains and leaves you with lingering thoughts about this journey called life.

Please give his podcast a listen and share with your loved ones. It is available on all platforms-- spotify, apple podcast, google podcast and anchor.

This brings us to the end of today's post. I hope you enjoyed this post even though it isn't my usual. I think it's a great idea to show support to fellow young creators in my own little way. Please share today's post because you never know who it may reach.

Thank you for always coming through for me and being so supportive. God bless you. God bless our hustle and hardwork.

Until next time,

Be you, do you, stay you

Adwoa.
